What do you charge for your services?

Fees start at $550 for individuals and depends on the complexity of your return and time required. Please reference our pricing page for a list of common fees.

Do you provide bookkeeping or payroll services?

We do offer bookkeeping services for current clients as a separate engagement, but we do not provide payroll services. We are a business partner with several large payroll firms, and would invite you to work with our personal account managers.

Does your firm provide year-round services?

Yes. We are open all year and not just during tax season. Whether you have a simple tax question, need a consultation on the tax implications of a selling a home, or want advice on a large business purchase, feel free to give us a call.

Will my information be kept confidential?

We are bound by the IRS Circular 230 guidelines and maintain a strict policy of confidentiality. You can expect as much privacy with us as you do an attorney. No one will learn about your affairs – not even relatives, associates, or friends who might have referred you to us.

How do I give you my tax information?

You’ll provide your tax information via our secure client portal hosted by SmartVault.

Is your secure client portal safe?

Yes. All documents stored in the SmartVault data center are encrypted at rest using AES-256. SmartVault uses SSL when you or others you invite to your SmartVault account interact and communicate with SmartVault by uploading, viewing, and downloading documents. This protects your documents, passwords, and other interactions with SmartVault from eaves-dropping. SmartVault also encrypts backups of your documents and their metadata, and then stores these encrypted backups offsite. Because of this, any backup media intercepted or lost in transit from SmartVault to the secure, offsite facility is non-recoverable by eavesdroppers.

What’s the best way to upload using my phone or tablet if I don’t have a scanner?

There’s an app available called CamScanner available for phones and tablets. Simply take a picture of each page of your document, and it will combine pages into a single PDF document.

What is the tax return process like?

We have done our best to streamline the process for you, whether you are a new or returning client. Clear steps in our process allow you to understand what to expect next as you move through towards completion. When in process, you can always email our team with questions: team@whitneyandassociates.org.

How long does it take to complete my return?

If you have your documents uploaded before the peak of the tax season, it will be 2-3 weeks. If it is during the middle of tax season, it will likely be 4-5 weeks. Expect March 1st-April 15th and September 1st-October 15th to be our busiest times.

Why is there a watermark on my copy and can I get a copy without a watermark?

The watermark is there to ensure anyone viewing the tax forms is aware they are not original forms that require mailing, and they are copies of filed returns. We only provide copies without a watermark for those who need to paper file their returns.

What should I do if I receive a government notice regarding a tax return Whitney & Associates prepared?

Do not ignore any notices! Should you receive correspondence in regards to a tax year you worked with Whitney & Associates to prepare, please upload all pages (front and back) of the notice. We want to help you understand any notices you may need help deciphering.
